About the Role

A Database Administrator is responsible for overseeing the storage, organization, security, and performance of an organization’s data systems. This role includes designing and implementing database solutions, managing user access, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring databases remain reliable and efficient.

You will work closely with IT professionals and business stakeholders to support data-driven operations, maintain system integrity, and ensure that database environments meet organizational needs.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure and efficient database systems.
  • Monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexing, and storage usage.
  • Manage data backups, recovery plans, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Troubleshoot database issues and ensure high system availability.
  • Define and manage user roles, permissions, and access controls.
  • Collaborate with developers and analysts to support application and reporting needs.
  • Ensure database environments meet security, compliance, and reliability standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance, patching, and upgrades.
  • Create and maintain documentation for database architecture and procedures.
  • Support data migration and integration initiatives as needed.

Requirements and Skills

  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of database design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Experience with relational database systems such as MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
  • Knowledge of database security, backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with SQL scripting and data management best practices.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
